  7. My name is Sheila Hansen. I teach MS math at a small school in Avoca, IA. I have been teaching math since 2003 and still love it! I like these book studies to get renewal credits, but I'm also always looking for new ideas! We have 3 daughters who are nurses, 2 grand kids and 1 on the way!

    1. Hi, my name is Matt Campbell and I teach at Lead-Deadwood High School. This is my 12th year at this school and I taught for 12 years at Mahpiya Luta High School in Pine Ridge, SD. I have really enjoyed teaching at both schools and I am looking forward to this class!

  15. My name is Pamela Kringel, and I am the librarian at T.F. Riggs High School. I work with all Riggs' students grades 9-12. I coteach research classes, supervise a book club and booktalk with students. I am also responsible for maintaining a Riggs student eligible college scholarship search list. In a couple of months, I will be in charge of administering our school's AP tests. I have worked in the Pierre district as a librarian for 21 years. Before that I worked in public libraries in California (my home state), as well as the South Dakota State Library as the children's services coordinator. Libraries are my happy place!

  18. Hello! My name is Ashton Peterson and I am currently a 3rd grade teacher in Alta, Iowa. I have previously taught 6th, 1st, and 2nd grades. This is my 7th year teaching and I am always looking to learn new things and improve my skills as an educator.   33. I hope students learn that relationships are the foundation of everything. Long after they forget how to do the math problems or the dates in history, they will remember the person who made them feel capable. In the classroom, our character speaks louder than our curriculum. We aren't just teaching our students; we are showing our students what it looks like to be a person. It is important to form bonds with them. I get to form some deep bonds with my students as I have them for four years in a row and get to know them and their families very well.

  35. Hi! My name is Mateja Barrett. I was a classroom teacher for 5 years. Most recently I have been a stay-at- home parent. When my kids were very young I homeschooled. And, for the last several years I have substitute taught in both public and private schools in Sioux Falls. I just sent my youngest to public school with my other 3. She loves it! I am taking this class to maintain my teaching certificate. I hope to get back to the classroom as my kids become older and more independent.

    Hello - My name is Krista Weiland. I live in Le Mars with my husband and two children. I work for Sioux City Community Schools. I have worked in education for twenty years serving in a number of roles. I enjoy spending time with my family and recently listening to podcasts. I can't wait for summer to enjoy my back yard recently enclosed with a fence. My daughter graduated from St. Luke's College and Morningside University this past weekend and my son will be a high school senior next year.

  38. Hello - My name is Lisa Hurd. I live in Rapid City and am in my 11th year of teaching ELA. This upcoming year, I will be teaching 6-8 Reading and Lab at West Middle School. I have been decompressing the last few days from a stressful school year but looking forward to the new adventure! I live with my husband of 19 years and our daughter who is about to start high school. We also have 3 fur babies - Brody (Husky/German Shepherd mix) Lola (French Bulldog), and Raven (Black Cat).

  39. My name is Amanda Geraets. I have a bachelor's in Mathematics Secondary Education and am currently working on my Masters in Adult and Higher Education through USF. I am hoping to one day become a dual credit college algebra instructor. I live in Dell Rapids, SD with my husband and we have 8 children ranging from age 26-age 9. I taught at a private school grades 7-12 for 19 years and resigned this last year due to being told I was going to be non-renewed because of ACT scores. In my free time, I follow my kids for their sporting events, love to camp and travel, and put puzzles together.

    A little bit about myself. I have 3 kiddos (5 years old, 2 years old and 2 weeks old), so I keep myself busy. I love being outside and doing anything that involves being outside such as running or riding my horse.

My husband and I live on an acreage just outside of town with our two children, the oldest of whom will be in my Junior Kindergarten class this coming year.     My name is Amber Comp. I've been a high school science teacher for 15 years and have taught the whole list of science courses. I am moving back to Presho, SD ,this summer and I will be teaching at Lyman High School. I am married with 3 kids, 2 dogs, a bunny, and a class pet salamander. My oldest is off to college this year, but the littles are both in elementary.
